Musical Influences |
|
First and foremost I must give mention and my utmost respects and honor to one of the most influential names in the underground electronic music culture. In 1995 an album was released by the Orb named "Orbvs Tererrvm", that in my opinion changed the face of electronic music. About two years later, that album found its way to Hesperia Ca, and into the hands of three stoned teenagers who's minds were ripe for change. Not change in music, or lifestyle, or in any conventional means. No, we were ready for a change of perspective and perception, conception, realization, confrontation, and complete clarity. We sat completely locked but traveling, going nowhere but everywhere at once, not a word was uttered between the three of us for the entire length of the album. I took something with me that night, something I still keep and live by to this day, I can't tell you what it is, I guess it's just that one thing, that one thing in life that hopefully everyone finds at some point. When you do discover your one thing you'll never have to wander anymore. That is how it was for me at least, I'm glad i found it young! So with that I thank you Dr. Alex Patterson, and Thomas Fehlmann, and to Orb, thank you for opening my eyes, Thank You! Other influences include: the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, The Doors, the Band, Buffalo Springfield, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Greatful Dead, James Brown, Thelonious Monk, Muddy Waters, Credence Clearwater Revival, ok there's just too much to think of I'll just go like this; Classic Reggae, and oldskool Ska, pre '78 Punk and Dead Kennedys, oldskool roots Hip-hop, and new Hip-hop, oldskool Rap, 70's & 80's Metal, Sonic Youth, and late 80's early 90's Grunge, OLDSKOOL Country and Folk, Banjo shit, Sublime (40 oz. & Robbin the hood days), and pretty much all roots, oldskool, and newskool,Dub, Dub, Dub, Dub, underground electronic music IDM and EDM! That about covers it but i did probably leave something out, oh well you get the gist.

Just wanna add this little note; all the pictures you see displayed for my mixes are taken by yours truly, and are of different locations throughout California, my Home. I love my state I was born and raised, and schooled here! Also, from as far back as I can remember my Father would take us camping, every year, mostly to the Eastern Sierra, where I return to every year. This is my most cherished and favorite place out of anywhere in the world, I love those mountains and highly respect the power such a place holds. We as humans can't even begin to imagine the life cycle and quiet solitude that a place like this represents. I have these pictures as covers for my mixes first to raise awareness that we need to keep these and other places as close to their natural state as possible, never allow anyone, no corporation, no private interests, no developers, to over develop ANY of these places! Yes, some things are more important than money! Secondly I feel that the closest we can get to ever replicating the grandeur of such a place, is not in anything we could ever build, but in this very music, that other than classical music, is the only music with the power to take ones mind and soul to even a fraction of the scale that these majestic peaks reach, from the sky to the sea.
So just as we show our culture, our scenes, and one another respect, lets do the same for the places that capture our imaginations, and emotions by doing nothing more than existing, long before and long after any of us!
Thanks for the support! LONG LIVE MONO LAKE!
