I don't do third-person bios, as I find them to be a bit on the side of cheese, and I'm an avid non-cheese supporter (unless it's fully aware of its cheesy status or is edible!) With that said, let me give a brief overview of my musical history and DJ/producer history.  Beginning at the age of 12 or so, I was introduced to the "pop" side of electronic music, to artists such as Nine Inch Nails, early Ministry, Prodigy and Depeche Mode from a close friend and funnily enough, MTV. There was just something about the blips and twerks of synthesizers. The grind of guitars or a raging 303. All mixed with the angst-borne and melancholy words, danceable rhythms, or in the best case, both.  A good night and a copy of Music For The Jilted Generation solidified a journey I never imagined I thought I'd embrace.

With the rise of Napster in late '99 and early 2000, an entire world of unheard music was made available to me, whether or not the talking heads at the major labels liked it or not. I found dozens of previously unknown-to-me artists, spanning from IDM, to industrial/EBM, to trance, techno, trip-hop, and even video game remixes. I was hooked.  Front 242, Infected Mushroom, Autechre, Squarepusher, Paul Oakenfold (fuck off, you liked him once, too), Wumpscut, Portishead, Velvet Acid Christ, Bjork, Lords of Acid and Praga Khan, Aphex Twin, Chemical Brothers...the list could go on, but if it used synths or samples, I was into it.  I loved the music, but I wanted more. I wanted to other people to hear this music. I wanted to make this music.

I never had the friends or connections to go to raves or clubs at a young age and moving to a smaller city in eastern Tennessee didn't help things. The average music listener fit your typical Anywhere, USA stratification of Backstreet Boys, Blink 182, AC/DC, Limp Bizkit, Counting Crows, 50 Cent, Shania Twain fans. Grim, indeed. Tape decks and a CD burner helped me, help other people. Then I had to go a step further and purchased my very first turntables, mixer, and finally got to crack open and listen to some records I'd had for years. With the help and guidance of the community at DJForums.com and some good friends, I was it was on. And here I am, dropping tracks and sharing the aural-sonic love ;)

Enough history, let's talk about music. I love to say "I like it all" when people ask me what kind of music, but as the discerning DJ, I've got to make decisions with some consistency. Working some combination of the listener's mind and body is the priority, and I won't hesitate to kick out the jams to make it happen. Deep, minimal or soulful at times, or banging away with peaky disco-funk, raw techno, or gritty electro--I'm on it. If it's innovative or just a quality jacker, it's coming into my headphones and out of my speakers. Electro-dub-funk-tek-house-step-core-crunkaliciousness. Take that DJ Mag!

My productions, at times, span the gamut like my listening tastes, but you'll find most of my music to fit into the techno, tech-house, or electro archetypes. Modern production and DJ influences include Gui Boratto, Stephan Bodzin, Eric Prydz, Boys Noize, Cobblestone Jazz, James Zabiela (wow that's a lot of Z's!) Digitalism, Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Miss Kittin, Steve Bug, Terry Lee Brown, Jr., Matthew Dear, Oliver Huntemann, John Tejada, Oxia, Inland Knights, Mark Farina, Akufen, Bryan Jones, and SO many more. Favorite labels include Turbo, Minus, Kompakt, Pryda, Get Physical, Drumcode, Bpitch Control, Trapez, Boys Noize, Cocoon, Kitsune, Wagon Repair, Spectral Sounds, and Institubes (and of course, many more).

Enjoy some of my mixes and original productions and remember, I appreciate hearing from my listeners, so feel free to contact me any time with your thoughts or experiences. We can never hope to become better at what we love without the helpful words of others.

Techno Vocals (Will Azada RMX)
Description:
New remix of Marc Houle's minimal techno stomper, "Techno Vocals." This remix twists the pace of the track, starting out on a bit of a minimal trip, but steadily cranks into full-blast with a searing bass lead and a "don't fuck with me" breakdown that'll tweak you into a silly place :D 320kbps mp3, 8 min 11 sec
