Musical Influences
Electronically speaking I would have to say All the old school Chicago cats, Armando, Hyperactive, Gene Farris, Sneak, Terry Mullan, Robert Armani, Felix Da Housecat and just 2 many more to name. Also people from abroad like Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, Richie Hawtin, Lenny Dee, Derrick May, Christian Smith, Joey Beltram, Dj Hell, Depeche Mode, Dave Clark, The Advent, and also may more. More recently I have been inspired by people like Johannes Heil, Whebba from brazil, Hertz, Carl Falk, Aitor Ronda, Elton D, Heiko Laux, Valentino Kanzyani, L.K., and the whole techno/electro movement that just continues to grow throughout the world.

I also am inspired by other music such as Jazz, Blues, Funk, Disco, Hip-Hop, Rock, and even some 80s Pop. If I had to name some of the people from these genre's that inspire me it would be Louie Armstrong, Al Green, Minnie Ripperton, Talib Kwali, Mos Def, Gangstarr, Scarface, Common, Nas "old stuff", Lipps Inc. "funkytown", Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Guns & Roses, Led Zepplin, Janis Joplin, Oasis, Violent Femmes, The Verve, and many more.

Iam constantly listening to new and different music everyday. If I only listened to Electronic music I would have stopped Djing a very long time ago.

Gear / Equipment
I currently have just recently switched to digital. I have a Sony Vaio running Rane Serato.
Really got sick of lugging around records espically for the couple gigs a year I fly out of town.
I wont have that sick feeling in my stomach no more worrying about if my record box will make it to the next Country with me. Now I can just carry my music on the flight with me. I also produce music with my musical partner of 14 years. He has tons of gear such as, Triton, Waldorf microwave, The Virus, Novation drum staion, Juno, Yamaha OS 10 mixing board, and just tons of rack mounts and other effect and filter devices. And of course my decks are the Inustry Standard.
And for a mixer Iam currently using a Vestax, I had a Pioneer DJm-600 but sold it. Iam currently shopping for a Allen and Heath mixer.

I have been Djing for 14 years nows. I started at the ripe age of 12 and never looked back. I have seen just about it all in the Dj Industry. I started out playing house music when I first got into the scene. Within a few years I got into the Underground music which for me was Hardcore Techno/ Gabber Music. I played that type of music untill the year 2000, which then I started playing slower Techno music. I have played hundreds of gigs in my career ranging from Chicago basement parties to Open Air Pavillion Events in South America with Thousands of people. A few years ago I actually needed to take a break from the music scene. Cut off all contacts and just explored other things in life. But I always kept up with the music and dj scene, just not in the public eye. What really got me very interested in getting back to where I left off is the whole Digital Revolution that has taken over the music scene. You can have so much more new music and promos and dont have to worry about driving to the store for music that you are limited to. It is hard for a techno Dj to be relevant when you are buying music from stores that really only have a ear for house. Iam in Chicago after all.

I also threw alot of techno parties in the 90's bringing out talent such as Dj Hell, Richard Bartz, Joey Beltram, Heiko Laux, Blake Baxter, Diesel Boy, Chris Liberator, Terry Mullan, John Aqcuaviva, Damon Wild, DJ Skull, and many more international acts and Chicago legends. I probaly would be still doing it if the city of Chicago didnt make so hard for us to organize them. This is a very corrupt city, and if they cant get a piece of the action they make it so nobody can.

I also have been producing music for 9 years and am starting to release new music digitally on the mp3 sites within the next few months under the guise ART OF STATE.
