Musical Influences
I listen to all sorts of stuff, Im certainly not just into the music that you will hear me play, in fact I'll listen to almost anything! My music library includes pretty much every genre of dance music, obviously there is a focus on Breaks and Electro and similar; however I still have a pretty big trance and hard-house/hard trance collection on vinyl. When I go clubbing I'm happy to go out to house nights, drum and bass nights, techno nights; nu-rave nights, rock nights... the list goes on. A good DJ should be influenced by everything around them and I'd like to think that my exposure to many forms of music helps me to connect with more clubbers, and helps me to open new doors for them.
Ive been influenced by many other DJ's, perhaps some of the most notable include The Plump DJ's, The Stanton Warriors, The Scratch Perverts, D Ramirez, Dirty South, The Hoxton Whores, Erol Alkan, 2 Many DJ's, Herve, Sasha, Lab 4, Eddie Halliwell, Roni Size - far too many more to mention!
Gear / Equipment
Currently using 2x Technics 1210's with Ortofon DJ Nightclub MK II Carts, Korg Zero 4 firewire enabled Mixer, 2x Denon DN S3500 CD Decks, Pioneer CDJ1000 Mk3, Korg Kaos Pad III.
Running a laptop with Live! 7, and Reason, and alongside a Native Intruments Audio DJ 8 interface and the Zero 4.

I’ve spent most of my life immersed in music, and a vast range of it too! My music library (quite apart from my DJ library) is pretty huge and unpredictable – there’s everything from Eric Clapton, Marilyn Manson, Johnny Cash to The Streets! I constantly listen to music; new, old, whatever – I don’t care – anything that evokes a feeling or emotion; especially if it makes me want to dance!

My DJing reflects this mashup of influences – I’m not really one to be tied to a style or genre... how can you react to a crowd if you only bring a few similar tunes? I suppose when forced I’d say I’m a breaks DJ, but you might not think that on first impression. Breaks are my current love, but you’ll probably hear a good smattering of other things in my sets these days (fidget is a new genre Im pushing at the mo) – I like to keep people on their toes and find that throwing in plenty of electro and the odd trance remix or classic keeps things bouncing nicely! My music tends to lean towards the dirty, edgy and raw end of the spectrum – anything really chunky and thoroughly electronic is ideal for me.

I’ve been DJing now for about 10 years, and having played everything from trance, house, hard house, electro, breaks and the odd bit of dnb; and my experience is pretty far reaching. Check my kit out, you can see that I only use high quality gear, enabling me to drop what I want, when I want. I’ve promoted my own nights, having run a very successful night, Rhapsody, in Cheltenham; I’ve now moved on to other nights such as That Thing! and Tekniq. Rhapsody was all about showcasing the best breaks, electro, and dnb talent in the southwest; Tekniq is on a similar vibe, but dirtier and more focussed on the dnb with bookings like - Chase & Status, Nicky Blackmarket, Cyantific, and Spectrasoul.  I currently hold a residency for That Thing! and have DJed alongside the likes of The Stanton Warriors, The Freestylers, The Scratch Perverts, and Noisia.  I'm also in touch with most of the other nights in Gloucestershire and make appearances for the likes of Breakout, The Tunnel Sessions, Rokit, Glampop and others.

If your interested in making a booking, require a more up to date, or specific mix, then drop me a line on deej@dugone.co.uk. I can arrange everything from DJ’s, to live acts, to sound systems, to complete parties – just drop me an email and I’ll get straight back to you. The website http://www.dugone.co.uk is a little lacking at the moment, but you’ll be able to see flyers and pictures for past events that I’ve played at or promoted, and of course all the latest info for up and coming gigs.
