Musical Influences
My musical influences are very broad but then again, what DJ's influence isn't??? Anyway, being of hispanic descent I obviously grew up listening to Salsa, Merengue, Spanish Hip Hop, Reggaeton, Bomba y Plena, Mambo, even Bachata (RIP Jose Tumi) all that good hispanic shit... LOL...! As i began broadening my hirizons and realizing that "Hey, I love all music" I found myself enfatuated with everything from Hip Hop and RnB to Jazz, Classical, World, Pop, Metal, Alternative, Grunge, Industrial and at times Country music. I've got to admit though, Since I started to listen to House (Thanks to great people like Aaron, Barry and Helen), I've grown to almost Lust for the sound of House music. Well, let me cut this short. As far as Musician's in the traditional sense, because we all know that DJ's are just as musically talented, :-) I'd have to say I'm a huge fan of Santana, Jimi Hendrix and of course the Beatles. That's just to name a few. This list goes on and on. As far as DJ's that have influenced me in their "Art" I would have to say Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia and Richie Hawtin. Again, just to name a few. This list includes all the great DJ's such as the one and only DJ Tiesto, Paul Van Dyke, Sasha and Digweed, Deep Dish, Baby Anne, Pete Tong, Sander Kleinenberg, Steve Lawler, Roger Sanchez, Oscar G, Eric Morillo, George Acosta, DJ Dan, Armin Van Burren..... The list goes on and on and on... I JUST LOVE THE MUSIC... My Mission Is to Convert or Introduce as many friends as possible to the GLOBAL MOVEMENT which is HOUSE MUSIC... and hey, if someday I happen to be spinning some Fly ass tracks in Space in IBIZA, then hey... That'd be niice too....!!!

To All my Fellow DJ's.... Keep the Movement going!!!
Gear / Equipment
This is My Current RIG...

2 Tech 12's mk5
Serato Scratch Live
1 Vestax PDX2000S
1 American Audio Pro Scratch (PSX) CD Turntable
1 Numark Axis 8 CD Turntable
Pioneer DJM600
ART SLA
200w Studio Head and Passive Monitor's (to put the music in my face!)

Current Investments in "R&D" (If anyone has suggestions/recommendations, feel free to hit me up)
1. Pioneer CDJ1000 mk2's to replace my PSX and Axis 8
2. Pioneer EFX 500
3. Korg Electribe ESX-1 (For improvising Break cuts or just to add a little bump-diddy-bump to a mix)

Eventually I'll feel the Urge to create my very own Track.  Wait, I allready do.  This is why I began my Recording/Production Studio off on the right foot.  I just purchased a New MAC G5 w/ the Dual Quad Core Intel XEON chips... KICK ASS... I'd like to round out my make-shift studio w/ the following

1.  Recycle 2.1 (Because it includes Reason Adapted and most everything I need to Slice and Dice my own Samples)
2.  Pro Tools of course!  (This I'll need to do some more extensive research because there are so many variations of the software.  Again, any guidance is always welcomed and appreciated)
3.  As far as a contol surface/keyboard for ProTools/Recycle I was looking at the M-Audio Axiom 49 or 61 (again, Gotta figure out which would work best with my setup)
4.  I've already got my eye on a host of Sample Libraries but if anyone has any suggestions, let me know...!

EMOTION
Description:
This musical journey came to be when a dear friend of mine came up to me and was like, "I have an idea for your next set!" I heard her out and felt it was a dumb idea at first.  Her Idea was pretty straight forward.  She said, "DJ, take these 5 tracks and make beautiful music out of it."  I listened to the tracks she suggested and suddenly a "VIBE" grabbed me from deep within the speakers.  It was sureal.  Something you don't feel everyday.  I didn't quite know what was it that grabbed me like an insignificant comet being sucked up, eaten alive by a blackhole but I was enveloped in sort of a "Musical Trance" that was quite hard to shake.

I closed my eyes, felt the music and was taken on a journey I didn't quite see coming.  It was almost as if someone or something abducted me.  I was lost.  Wandering around in an too familiar playground I like to call "my mind".  When I snapped out of it, I had arranged/re-arranged the entire set mentally.  That is, as I was listening to the individual tracks, in my mind, I was mixing them and was hearing how they sounded together.

The title "Emotion" came to me from the UNIVERSE.  I've been going through some turmoil both in my personal and professional life and had tons of mixed "Emotion"s about everything in my life.  I channeled my "Emotion" into this set and the set was born.

It starts off mysterious with "Step into the Light" followed by a mix of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence", picks up speed with "Superfabulous" on BT's "Technology EP" and just soars from there.  Towards the middle of the set, you're slowly transported into an eary darkness which-as with every other track in this set-contributes to an overall "Up and Down" feeling but never losses momentum.  Kind of like how I've been for the passed few months.  Emotions have been Up one minute then Down the next but through out all the ups and downs I cling to my Life Blood-MUSIC.  Once I channeled all
that negativity into my music, what came to be is an excellent mix.  One for the masses, in my opinion, but I'll let my adoring fans play the part of Judge!

ENJOY MY FRIENDS!!!

Requiem
Description:
Requiem came together late one night when I was home alone w/ my crates, turntables and mixer, throwing one piece of vinyl on after another. As it turns out, after about four hours of listening to my vinyl, I started noticing a pattern. That is, rather, in the state of mind I was in, these tracks stood out amongst the sea of vinyl records I own. After playing them in different orders, adding/removing and using different mixes of a song,Requiem was born.

Why the name Requiem? As you may have gathered, literally translated or defined, Requiem means "a mass or celebration honoring the dead and the profound impact they actually make in a persons life". So you're still asking yourself "why requiem"? Simple, lately, for some odd reason, I've been surrounded by death. From one of my closest friends whom I grew up w/ (RIP Jose "TUMI" Almonte), to friends' parent's, friend's of friend's and a few I didn't really know but was involved with close enough to understand a loss so tragic. I needed a release, an escape, something to distance myself from all the negativity about death which was surrounding me in my current situation otherwise called "Life".

I handed the initial recording to one of my closest critics for approval [As "DR KOCH" would say  "EH-LEH-NAH"]. The vote was in and it was unanimous. This set rocks. It starts off easy with a light progressive house sound, explodes with a few speaker hugging, base kicking tracks and morphs into a slightly darker, yet happy, "Realm". I dare you to come for a ride on this mental roller coaster journey through sound. That sound is "House Music" and the "roller coaster" is MY LIFE'S BRAIN.

Enjoy my friends.

Protools VS. Logic.... i think Logic Pro might suit you better, considering your new G5 (im so jealous!!) Check it out. (altho i think the wave editing on Protools is better, but i havnt spent that much time on logic so i might be a little biased) BUTTTTTTTT, nice mixes!!
