Lawrence Mayes AKA Dj Point n Click has been djing for almost 4 years now. Using a refund check from his college, he purchased 2 techs and a mixer. Having a musical background, Point n Click quickly learned the essential skill of beat matching but with limited funds he could not purchase more than the 7 records he had. Knowing that he couldnt advance in his career using 7 records, he looking into alternate ways to utilize the mp3 collection that he has.
One day while out with some friends at a local club ( Peabody's) in Virginia beach VA, Point n Click wanted to hear a song and approached a man playing Golf on his laptop. PNC asked the man if he knew where the dj was and the mn replied I am the dj. Amazed PNC realized that the computer was the answer to his question and Traktor Dj Studio was his weapon of choice.
How did Lawrence Mayes become "Dj Point n Click"?
Well Lawrence is a member of the largest historically black fraternity in the World Omega Psi Phi, boasting members such as Michael Jordan , Shaquille O'Neal, Rev. Jesse Jackon, Comedian Steve harvey, and many other. and before he began using the Dm2 and tracktor, he simply used his computer mouse / keyboard and Traktor. His frat brotther ( LB) Shaun Howard deemed him Point n Click.
Initially laughed at because of his name , Point n Click has gained the respect of many even though he does not use tradition Dj Equipment
" I've been called everything from a secretary to a button pusher but when people realize that despite my tool, I understand and respect the history and i'm not simply a button pusher with the initials DJ in the front of my name , I seem to get a little more respect"
