I don't make music for children, my audience consists of adults. Good luck trying to get children to listen to this type of music. They just don't have the background to appreciate or understand it. I don't like commercial or artless music and so I don't spin that type of music. I am not a big fan of vocals either. As a DJ you can tire quickly of hearing the same words over and over again. Eventually you realise that everyone is essentially writing the same lyrics anyway and thus it becomes easy to dispense with them altogether (no great loss). Apologies to the singers, it's just not for me.
Somebody once described the music I spin as Electronic Instrumental. That's not how I would describe it. it's a bit broad of a definition and it sounds like an outsiders take on it. Definitely not a description that someone that has been listening to this music or is a part of the scene or the culture would use. I spin what I like and what I like is music that doesn't interrupt your thoughts. That provides a soundtrack to whatever it is that you are doing without being intrusive. Synth pioneer Brian Eno termed this style of music Ambient Music and I would say that most of my mixes are influenced in some way by this idea.
I am a firm believer in the healing power of music. As an artist, I am actually trying to help people achieve a state of mind where they can focus clearly and think deeply. To achieve this I avoid the distraction of lyrical content and try my best to blend the individual songs into a seemless whole. Ideally it should have a smooth flow whatever the particular style of music. This all sounds very pretentious, but that's the goal. Whether I achieve this or not, or whether I'm simply entertaining people by putting some novelty and humor into their lives is really for them to decide. I just like spinning music and quite possibly that is all that I am accomplishing.
Currently I am trying my hand at spinning a lot of diferent styles of music. I am fortunate in that I don't have to worry about the market place or what a particular audience may be expecting of me. I am able to dabble and have fun with it. Posting my mixes online is my way of letting my friends know that I'm still involved and it allows me to continue to share my take on the music with them. It also answers the question "Whatever happened to that DJ that used to spin at..."
I usually add all of the artists as friends on MySpace. If you hear a mix and are inspired to check out a particular artist you can link to them from there. I always encourage people to support the artists by buying their music, because I want them to be able to continue making music for all of us to enjoy.

I have a page on lastfm where you can listen to playlists; internet radio style. If you want to sample my music collection and hear the music that I've purchased and listen to, but maybe haven't used in a mix yet, you can do it there. It's like a random shuffle through my virtual record crate.
