For Elroy, life has always been about music. With tastes ranging from classical to metal and everything in between, it’s no wonder he fell in love with the magic of the turntables. “Looking back, I wish I would have got into djing a lot sooner. It was several years after high school before I even really knew what the dance music scene was all about.” His youth wasn’t completely wasted, however, as he started guitar lessons early on and had a good understanding of musical theory to build off. The first several months as a dj were frustrating, to say the least. Not able to find anyone to show him the ropes, Elroy painstakingly taught himself the basics. “I remember asking around, and everyone I knew, friends of friends, et cetra, wanted to charge me for ‘lessons’ instead of just comin’ over and hangin’ out for a while to spin. Today, none of those people are still around.” He wasn’t completely alone in his quest, however, as lifelong friend Semantic was along for the ride as well. Trainspotting, trial and error, and a lot of practice later, Elroy has finally found a style that he can call his own. Not sticking with one specific genre, he will mix a set with house, breaks, tribal, progressive, tech, funk, or whatever else is within reach. Right now he’s starting to make some strides in the Colorado scene, with several promo CDs and online mixes to his credit. Having played out at many of the hottest clubs in the Denver metro area, Elroy has successfully held on to a few resident spots and plays regularly at special events around the state. "I've been trying to break out of Colorado and get some more gigs around the nation, but right now, I think I’m stuck in the ‘Payin’ your dues’ stage. I’m trying to establish a name for myself without selling out. I’m willing to work for this, and I want to do it right.”
