Michael Bausman AKA Dj Soul Feather has been a music junkie for as long as he can remember. His adolescent years were spent going to music festivals, following the “jam band” Phish, collecting Grateful Dead shows on tape, and basically being a dirty hippie. As the years went by Soul Feather eventually tuned into a more refined electronic sound when he was introduced to bands such as Thievery Corporation, Sound Tribe Sector 9 and the New Deal. After this transition occurred, another one was taking place when he was introduced to the drum and bass/Jungle scene by his roommate and close friend while attending the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico. From then on Soul Feather has had a passion for spinning records, promoting music, and all together being a part of the music community. In late 2006 he received his first turntable decks and a few deep house records. Since then Listening to, spreading and spinning house music has become an obsession if not an addiction for Soul Feather. Soul Feather holds a residency in a small martini lounge in Duluth, MN called the Red Star where he spins various styles of house music. He hopes to immerse himself in the Minneapolis scene soon. Music is a way of life for Soul Feather and it is driven by a deep appreciation for the music, the wonderful and inspiring people in the scene, and that narcotic thrust one gets from hearing great and arguably important music.
