WHIZARD BIO
It didn’t take long for this hard working DJ to make his mark. After just a few short months behind the decks Whizard was holding down a residency in Hollywood, quickly building a reputation for his live sets filled with infectious energy, technical mixing, and the ability to read the crowd and get the dancefloor moving. Even when temporarily shifting focus to his full-time studies at UCLA (graduating June, ’03), Whizard kept a strong presence by playing, promoting, and throwing events. During this time he launched UCLA Radio’s only drum&bass show, Magnetik Space Lab Radio, which ran for over three years and broadcasted live sets from almost every Socal d&b artist, and many top DJs around the nation.
Whizard has become legendary for his series of mixed CDs (djwhizard.com) which have circulated throughout the country, bringing in scores of new fans, and introducing many to the sounds of drum & bass for the first time. Creating a heavy demand for himself Whizard has played top calibre events, performing on lineups from Rosarito , Mexico to Honolulu , Hawaii with heavyweights such as John B, Nu:Tone, Adam F, J Majik, Distorted Mindz, Silver, Calyx, Concord Dawn, JuJu, Marcus Intalex, Reid Speed, Nicky Blackmarket, Infiltrata, DJ Craze, Photek, Pendulum, Gridlok, D-Bridge, Nightstalker, and many more.
Well known for championing the reggae influenced dubwise drum & bass sound in Los Angeles, thanks to tens of thousands of hits for his series of Imperial Dub mixes online, it should be noted that Whizard is a very versatile DJ who throws down sets mashing up everything from liquid funk to the dark and nasty! DJ Whizard is no stranger to the drum n bass scene in Southern California as one of the founding members of the Magnetik Space Lab crew and the host of the only running drum n bass show on UCLA Radio (www.uclaradio.com Every Wed Nite 10-1 AM PST). Whizard brings his tight mixing skills and energetic flavor to this mix. Even fighting a wick'd cold (sars?) that left him seriously dehydrated toward the end of the mix, Whizard battled through to lay down a classic mix of gangster bizness that starts off bouncy and works its way harder with each track. XYZ has solidified himself as one of the top MCs on the west coast by his performances with many of the world's top drum n bass DJs. In top form at live shows this effort gives a nice glimpse of his style, lyrics, playful behavior and sheer joy of musically contributing to a set. Dutchess MC makes her debut on this CD. WHIZARD: EVOLVE RELOADED! [160kbps]

Recorded June 2003- This recording is a recreation of my set from Evolve [Los Angeles, 6-2003]. That nite I performed with MC XYZ and it was one of my more memorable nites as a DJ. The crowd reaction and participation was extraordinary, and XYZ kept the energy at peak level throughout almost the entire set. I was very dissapointed to find out the recording of that nite came out blank, so I decided to re-record the exact set to help preserve some of the wonderful memories from that nite.
It starts off with some liquid funk, including the first track "Life," an orignal dub from LoQtus- that is much different than his usual mashup sound. Then the mix works into some bouncy jump up style tunes, and works to a harder edge after that, still maintaining a certain level of funk. There a few great vocal tracks on here, and I close it out with a hip-hop classic that you will surely recognize.

Originally passed out on mixtape back in 2000, this is the first time this mix has made it onto mp3/CD format.
This mix contains a lot of classic jump, tech, and ragga tunes that will keep you steady bobbin' all the way through. A lot of hip hop flavor in this mix, as was very typical for that era. There are also some less well known tracks that are equally as good- so give it a good listen!!!
