DJ APX-1 is known for being on the forefront of the ragga/heavy amen movement, but on this mix he shows why he is such a revered DJ, by switching up styles yet reaming true to his form. This mix is straight for the dancefloor as
DJ APX-1 throws down some of the heavyiest tunes from the likes of
Subfocus, Moving Fusion and Dillinja to name a few. However the true jungle warrior within
DJ APX-1 is truly shown as he mashes out some rough tracks from the likes of
Capital J on
"What You Gonna Do" (which is sure to get any head in a venue stompin' hard as
Lil John belts out the hook of hooks) and an
Unknown Artist on
"Made You March". True standout cuts on this mix are provided by some SoCal producers steadily leaving their mark. The sounds of
"Chinese Boxing Playout" by the duo
Heavy Hitters is has an infectious bassline thump to it and
"Chompa" by Orange County's
Dirty Deeds is another tune that will simply get bodies moving. The highlight for myself is the end when, true to his OG form,
DJ APX-1 drops a remix of one of the most classic tunes and then drops the classic tune itself (also be sure to pay attention to the "voice" during the transition).
APX-1 on this mix delivers a well rounded slice of drum n bass sure to delight heads across the spectrum, boom!
From the jump
DJ Whiteboi lets you know that it is on with this mix. Drum n bass vocal (with like a MC/Rapper) tunes done well really hit hard and the
Chase & Status remix of
Plan B's,
"No Good" is a killer cut that starts off this mix.
Whiteboi keeps this mix very dancefloor driven and musical in his selection of cuts. From the likes of producers such as
XRS to
Brockie and
Ed Solo, many of the tunes in the mix will push hard on any dancefloor out there. With the
T.I. remix of
"Why You Wanna" and the songs thereafter such as
"Honey" by the
Funktastics,
Whiteboi drops the mood into a funky sub-level which is very very groovy. Still dancefloor hits the mix almost takes on a side personality exploring the funky side of drum n bass as opposed to the outset of the mix. Closing out the mix is the
Marky and
Bungal remix of the
Ne-yo tune
"Back Like That", which unless you have been living under a rock is one of the most rinsed tunes in the club circuits. Overall this mix is almost a two parter, beginning dancefloor agreesive and ending up leaving you funktafied!
