Musical Influences |
Since getting into trance around 2000, I have since expanded to a number of other dance genres, learning about DJ'ing since late 2005 and production since mid 2008. While I'm certainly a late bloomer, I'm looking forward to releasing some serious productions by the end of 2008. Trance will probably be my first genre for a long time to come, but I also have interests in all forms of house and breaks.

News and Announcements July 30, 2008 - For a while now, DJ'ing has been put on hiatus and I've moved into production.
Insomnolence Radio "Insomnolence Radio" is the result of a long but enlightening process over the preceding year and a half. DJ'ing has opened my ears to a wide variety of music, leaving me continually astonished at the amount of amazing tunes that are released every week. Although my primary genres are trance and progressive, my show will also reflect the broader variety of EDM I've been exploring.
If you have an open mind for different forms of music, I would hope you could tune in :).

Fall of 2005 was when I finally dropped Acid Pro, a powerful piece of software I had been using since 2001 to make amateurish trance mixes, and decided to pickup a pair of turntables. This mix looks back to some of my favorite tracks from that year.
The first three songs happen to be among the first tracks I picked up on vinyl, and so it seemed rather appropriate that they kick off the set in the same order they were when I did my first practice mix. From that point on, the mix takes on my typical style for two hours sets: The initial songs set the initial theme and mood, and inspire the direction and evolution of the mix from that point forward.

By Fall 2007, I felt I had finally collected enough breaks tunes to put together an effective mix. So like most of my mixes, its tracklisting is firmly grounded in basic principles of music theory and set construction with purposeful changes in key, energy, mood, etc, although it does not stray far from the typical progressive breaks style. The overall theme and mood for the mix is rather uplifting.

This promo is fairly unique in that it is essentially a practice mix done back in December 2006 that went absolutely perfect. I didn't really give much consideration to theme or proper changes in key, although I find it still has a sense of progression to it.

Driving Force Guest Mix

Hailing from New Jersey, Driving Force is an up-and-coming trance DJ and producer, leading off as Insomnolence Radio's first guest DJ. He brings with him his sound of melodic and tech trance, which can also be heard on his radio show, "Trancescapes & Nightmares", airing on sensegenerate.fm every 1st and 4th Saturday of each month for 2 hours. Also, keep an eye out for future productions as he is hard at work in the studio focussing on a number of projects.

My first house promo created with a strong sense of purpose to it, focussing on "fun" and "bouncy" house tunes of a few different sub-genres. It is musically divided into two major sections between the first and second half, each building up to a climax.
This mix has apparently achieved some distinction as being my most downloaded set, and by virtue of one song, is apparently the raunchiest. It has maintained a position on raunchyrhythms.com radio show as one of the top 10 most requested sets with an "awesome" rating, and has proliferated across the internet with little effort on my part. Ironically, although I find it a decent mix with decent tunes, I have since found some of the songs a little too much for me to listen to without some sense of disgust, not that they are bad tunes :). There is a strong audience for this though, mostly in parts of mainland and southern Europe.
