Madcap started DJing back i 1991 when he was 11 years old, mixing up house & breakbeat - more generally referred to as ‘Old Skool Rave’ nowadays.
Playing out at friends house parties, local sports halls and clubs over the coming years started his confidence on the decks and also gave Madcap reason to start producing demo mixes to give out. Being so young was a stumbling block but this changed when securing a job at local record shop Buzz Records, which was associated with DJ Pulse and the influential Creative Wax label.
Meeting with punters and promoters alike, Madcap soon found himself being booked up & down the UK for sets. At the end of 1994 Madcap started putting on events in Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire (because there wasn't much on offer for the younger generation at the time in this area) featuring local DJs & MCs. This was a good experience because it gained a following for him as well as the events themselves. Madcap went on to promote events under the names Intensity 96-2001 (later alongside Wilsh), Elevate 2000-2002, Essence 2002 (alongside Wilsh) and Storm 2003-2004. All the events were about good vibes and good music along with pushing DJs in the local area.
Madcap grew up listening to DJ's such as Hype, Ratty, Sy, Slipmatt, Carl Cox & LTJ Bukem, with more recent influences like Marky & Craze.
One particular highlight of Madcaps' DJing career so far was winning the Movement / Technics DJ Competition in 2002, as featured in DJ Magazine. The prize was a main room set at Movements' weekly event at Bar Rumba, London - along with 2 Technic Decks & Mixer. Other notable features on Madcap is his appearance in IDJ Magazine January 2004, winning "Mix Tape of the Month" and also coming 4th place in the Gemini DJ Competition at The Plaza Awards, Earls Court in 2003.
In the last couple of years Madcap has been very busy in the studio and just recently hooked up with old mate DJ Pulse to work on remixes of Stay Calm (Moving Shadow) & Silent Voices (Creative Wax) as well as some new projects. He also continues to work regularly with Andy Skopes (Jerona Fruits/Inperspective Records) & Wilsh (Inperspective Records/Technicality).
Releases so far include ‘These Sounds’ out now on Renegade Recordings (New Horizons LP) & ‘Hear Dis’ out now on Immerse Recordings. He has also signed up to Nookie's Strictly Digital record label. His track 'My Soul' Feat. Miss Trouble came out on Atmosphere Vol.2 in March this year. Other projects for ’07 include plans for Nookie to remix the track & later release it on Phuzion Records along with the original. Releases in the pipeline include tracks on Jerona Fruits (London), Side Chain Music (Germany), Utopia Music (Bristol) & Exegene (London). He also features in the ‘orange issue’ of Knowledge magazine, in the Essence of Chi article (out next month).
For the last 3 years Madcap held down a monthly residency at Uncertified in Aylesbury, Bucks which took place on the first Thursday of every month. He has also had the pleasure of playing at events such as Movement, Desire, Essence of Chi, London ZU, Switch (MoS), Drive By, Technicality, Moondance, Drum Club, Overload, Epidemik, Bar Knowledge, Helter Skelter, Evolution & Kinetic.
Madcap can be booked for the following styles: Drum & Bass / Jungle, Old Skool 89-Present, Breaks, House & even old Funk.
All of this brings us to the present time with Madcap, getting regular bookings and pushing himself to the fullest of his abilities.
