I've started DJing around 2003 right after I got out of computer school and I had no job, and lots of time on my hands. Thanks to my tax returns, I was able to buy my first set of turntables (which I still have and use...I don't care what anyone says, Gemini's are good!) and some records from Hot Topic. I believe my first record was Paul Van Dyke's "Columbia" EP...
From there I slowly built up my collection, hitting up Satellite and 611 records for my records and was on and off with the process of buying and making sets for about a year or two.
I finally made the decision to buy some CD players off of EBay (once again, Gemini CD players) and with significanly cheaper price of music online ($2 a song as opposed to 10+ a song) I've really been able to continuously get new music which really drives me to keep making sets.
Around the summer of '05 I started DJing for free at a local bar called 814. That got me used to actually playing in front of people, and the owner let me loose on the music I wanted for the most part. In the Winter of '06) I got a steady (paying!) gig at a lounge called
Lux where I got to spin all of the house music I loved and on Sunday's I spun at the local Buffalo Wild Wings where I also workded spinning mostly top 40 stuff and some hip hop as well.
I joined the army in '06 and now I'm in El Paso looking for the sceane. It's unveiling itself so hopefully I'll be in the game conquering this place!
