Prime Mover is Drum and Bass resident of the legendary DMC organization.
This is the alias of American dj Tasha & UK native Dave Cridge. Dave Cridge got his start djing regularly with the likes of Roni Size, Die, Jody(Way out west), and has been recordings as a member of “Up Bustle & Out”(best known for their Ninja Tune releases) for some years now. Tasha got his start touring nationally and being called “Virginia’s king of jungle” by URB mag(Urb#74). In early 2001 Tasha became the first American to have a 12” on long time Bristol, UK label Tribe recordings.
Since the inception of the multinational force called Prime Mover, the duo has produced a slew of original DnB, remixes & bootlegs. Combined, the discography of Prime Mover and affiliated projects include a plethora of releases distributed worldwide on a wide range of labels including majors like Tommy Boy, Studio !K7, and Ninja Tune. On the other side of the spectrum, Prime Mover records for DnB labels like Tribe Recordings(UK), Bootshake Records(UK), Bass Rejects Records(Norway), Ghetto Life Records(USA), Humdruma Records(USA), Humdrumz Records(USA), Hum Fi Drum(USA), Rid’em Records(USA), and Tasha and Chuck B's own imprint Pound Recordings.
In 2005 Tasha teamed up with Chuck B to collaborate on producing various drum and bass / ragga projects.
With numerous tracks receiving massive support from top notch DJs across the world, it was in 2007 that marked the trio’s first collaborative release.
The ragga crushers “Down Under” and “Smokers Clash” were released on Hum Fi Drum in the early part of 2007 and it was shortly after “Killa Army” was released on Pound Records.
In September of 07 “We’re Survivors” on Bass Rejects, was released (also with a Psychofreud remix on the flip).
Press on Prime Mover Tunes includes charting of several singles including their “Star Wars” remix which claimed #3 on the DMC UK DnB chart in the summer of 2005(Ray Keith was rumored to open his set at Fabric, London with it).
Press on Prime Mover & Chuck B collaboration tunes to get charted include the more recent “Killa Army” on Pound recordings, which had its debut at #1 on the DMC UK DnB chart. As well as best seller top tens at record shops worldwide.
On the dj tip Prime Mover play regularly worldwide with gigs spanning the atlantic from Bristol, UK, Los Angeles, Tokyo, New York City, Las Vegas, Washington DC to name a few. Being residents with the legendary Konkrete Jungle organization for 4 years, the Virginia chapter Tasha came from is credited to be the driving force behind the now 30+ chapters worldwide.
Now in Vegas, Tasha’s chapter(in association with Deton8or) was responsible for throwing the largest DnB event in Vegas history with the World of Drum and Bass tour(Bryan Gee, Ed Rush & Optical, Tali, Simon Bassline, SS, Greenlaw,Distorted Minds, Teebee).
In 2008 Prime Mover have ventured into Dubstep with their new project Tribe Steppaz Soundsystem which represents UK dubstep label Tribe Steppaz. Look out for Big Tings for Tribe Steppaz...
