The first time Sharp appeared under his DJ alias was in 1996 at the now legendary d&b joint Fastfood. But his musical journey began many years before that. His first serious encounter with music was at the tender age of seven, when he started listening to pirate radio stations in the Stockholm area, which broadcasted the contemporary sounds of disco and funk. At the same time, influenced by his older brother, he also found a liking for heavy metal groups such as Iron Maiden, Saxon and AC/DC, along with some Punk rock as well, mostly Swedish.

After listening to almost every flavour of popular music during his pre-teen years, he was increasingly drawn to the hip-hop scene, which exploded with creativity in the mid-eighties. Artists that influenced Sharp most at that time were RUN DMC, LL Cool J, T-LA Rock and Mantronix.

A year or two later, a mix style of hip-hop and reggae had become fairly common. After listening to that and hearing toasters like Smiley Culture and Yellowman, he moved on to explore the scene that was to be labeled ragga in the late eighties. Simultaneously, the dance music revolution with acid house in the front line caught the teenager’s attention with its dark and futuristic sounds.

As he moved in to the nineties, Sharp’s reggae collection grew larger month by month. One year into the new decade the phenomenon known as rave literally swept the young man off his feet, and he spent as many weekend nights as possible dancing till the morning to the bleepy techno noise. At one of these raves, in early 92, the DJ for the night left most of the Belgian, Dutch and German records out and concentrated on the English style of breakbeat house. This was definitely a breaking point in Sharp’s musical trip - he had found hardcore!

After spending two and a half years raving it was time to chill down with a more ambient style of music from the likes of The Orb, Orbital and FSOL. But that didn’t last long: during 94, Sharp got more than his share of the epidemic that we know as jungle fever! Unfortunately, due to not having decks at the time, money was spent on CD compilations rather than 12 inches. That problem got sorted the year after, and the humble DJ career was then able to take off. Sharp’s premier of spinning d&b out took place at the Fastfood club mentioned above. Other gigs of the time include Yalah (97), Lava (97), and the Stamina bar tour (98).

After a few years of absence, Sharp returned to the scene at the first annual d&b outdoor event on Långholmen during the summer of 2001. And together with a confederate known as BBoyflipper, an Internet radio station was launched the same year - Soundfiction! Sharp’s love for the radio medium can not be mistaken: he’s appeared on P3 Klubb, Kaos 95.3, B-Line 95.3, and Reggae Attack MRS 90.5 to name a few.
