U.S. Marshall currently resides in L.A. and represents the Temple of Boom- SoCal’s largest DnB record shop. Holding down various residencies including Samurai @ Tokio Lounge in Hollywood and Kicks n Snares in Downtown Los Angeles as well as frequent appearances at the famous Funktion weekly are the latest happenings in a ten year DJ career.
One that started in the mid ninties when Toronto was on fire. Living in Buffalo NY made for a short drive on a Saturday night to see the biggest dons from the UK and all of the local heros championing a sound that most of his hometown had never heard. U.S. Marshall fell so hard in love with this music so quickly that just listening was no longer enough, and bought V Classics Vol.1 on vinyl in 1997. The collection grew very fast and U.S. Marshall released a demo and started playing local raves and club nights.
In 1999, Marshall and his brother started Buffalo’s first DnB weekly dubbed “The Return”. Several big headliners came to a town they had never previously heard of to play for growing audiences spreading the word. During this time, Marshall also worked hard to obtain a large collection of rare and limited oldschool presses of many of the tunes he first heard in the dances.
He took the ragga sound down to the small island of Antigua in 2001 and mixed jungle with dancehall for eager ears, staying for almost a year. Upon returning to Buffalo, more plans to go spread the sound further were already being made.
In 2003 U.S. Marshall traveled to South East Asia after confirming just a few bookings in Bangkok and Bali. Spending six months mashing floors in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia lead to a residency at Ko Phan Ngan’s Full Moon Party.
Upon returning to the United States, Marshall was looking for the next place where Drum n Bass was huge and growing. The health and vibrancy of the Southern California scene naturally called him to L.A. in 2005.
U.S. Marshall still shifts through all genres in every set. Always quick mixing on three decks from liquid to ragga to jump-up to dancefloor smashers include plenty of up-front and unreleased tunes coming in from the friends made along the way…..and always a lick of oldschool.
