THE BEGINNING… Born in 1970, and start Djing at the age of 13, for friends and family. I still remember those days in 1983, playing with cassettes and rewinding it with a pencil to Cue the track, spending hours listening night disco shows, like “Fiesta en la Ciudad” or “Concierto Discotheque”, played on local radio stations, waiting for that exclusive track to be played. Nice days, when you only need one disco mirror ball with two PAR 56 to have a great party night. THE 80s… The 80s was a great learning period…people calls Djs as “the man that plays the music”…no Dj XYZ or a.k.a Names. A lot of good bands, in those days my interested were on some Pop/Rock bands like Talking Heads, U2, Depech Mode, Erasure, The Clash, REM, and also some Disco, like Wild Cherry, Kc, Kool and the Gang, The Commodores, etc… 1985 was my first approach with vinyls, using my belt drive turntables, and my mixer with analogue VU meter. On 1987 bought my first direct drive turntable (technics Sl 1800) and on 1988 my brand new pair of Technics SL-1200, still have it and is my best partner on every party, I loved to play 12”, doing good, long and smooth mixings, blending different styles of music, putting all my effort as a Dj, on trying to be on every dancers shoes, and give them an increasing trip of Joy. THE 90S… As a resident Dj of many popular Clubs and Discotheques, this period represent my professional evolution as a Freestyle DJ, by the hand of the boom of Hip Hop and the Euro dance music, with bands like C+C music factory, Snap, Corona, 2 Unlimited, Wigfield, Twenty 4 Seven, playing a lot of club anthems and booty music. The 90s will be remembered by every Dj as the transition from Analogue to Digital music…continue playing with vynils or change to CDs…that was the Dilema. Some people argue that Djs that use CDs, where no REAL Djs…the time gives no reason to them. A lot of CD player for Djs start their development during the 90s. In 1992 I bought my first dual deck CD player, a Denon 2000-F, very basic but have an instant start and 1/75 frame search that astonished many Djs including me, of course. On 1997 radios were playing a lot of teenagers electronic music, pachanga and a whole thing of indescribable type of garbage music, so, bored and disenchanted decided that was time to end my professional carrer as Dj, and started my official carrer (Electronic Engineer). Dj Undermixx Take a long sleep of eight years. CENTURY CHANGE….THE 2000 ARRIVE… During my hibernation, started a search of my own musical interested, found that Internet revolutionized the music industry…lot of legal and unlegal download sites,… YouTube with a lot of videos teaching Djing techniques, presenting new equipments features,… an explosion of Softwares for Djs,… tons and tons of MP3 flowing one side to another…on line WEB radios…Fun fun and more fun for me. Its time to rip my Vinyls and Cds on to MP3… a lot of work. Searching Internet found that rare band whose music was used as a background music by a TV Channel called “Rock & Pop”…that band was Orbital, formed by Hartnoll brothers, this guys changed my life…finally found those sounds I started looking during my hibernation. This first approach to experimental electronic music (some people called this kind of music like IDM “Intelligent Dance Music”, don’t know if this is the right name for this gender), take me to those fantastic sounds, and mental journeys of House and Techno music. By the time, learning more and more, discover other genders like Deep house, Tech House, Minimal techno and Break Beats. NOW DAYS… Now my interest are in deep exploring electronic music and learning more and more about Harmonic mixing, music producing software, and new technologies for Dj´s. Actually I’m using my old turntables with New Time Coded Vinyl’s and professional Dj Software’s thus I can use my classic vinyls combined with new MP3 music (the best of both worlds), with only two turntables and one mixer. Today many Djs claim that “Real” Dj´s don’t use Computers….same dilemma as in the 90s, …Vinyl’s vs CDs. I say: “use what is good for you” what matters is…..Do it well and have FUN !!!.
